Leading Atlantic Canada’s Largest Healthcare Infrastructure Project
QEII Halifax Infirmary
As part of the Plenary PCL Health Consortium, B+H, in association with Arcadis, is leading the design for the significant expansion of the QEII Halifax Infirmary in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This multi-campus teaching and research institution is undergoing the largest healthcare infrastructure project in Atlantic Canada.
The design, aiming for LEED Silver certification, aligns with Nova Scotia Health’s core values. It focuses on improving access to quality care and creating people-centred healing environments for patients and staff.
“We are honoured to contribute to the development and expansion of this essential healthcare facility, ensuring it meets contemporary needs while envisioning the hospital of the future. I am particularly enthusiastic about the opportunity to strengthen our community and integrate the hospital seamlessly into the urban fabric of Halifax. Situated in one of the city’s prime public spaces, this location will become a vital and accessible resource for all.”
B+H is responsible for the design of critical clinical areas, including the Operating Rooms (OR), Emergency Department, and Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR), as well as the overall building architecture. This project is a collaborative effort, delivered with the support of the QEII Healthcare Consortium, which includes Plenary PCL Health, Nova Scotia Health, Build Nova Scotia, and the Province of Nova Scotia.
