Talent Spotlight: Romy Lewin

International Women's Day 2026

3月 10, 2026

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women of CHIL Interior Design, our dedicated hospitality studio, throughout the entire month of March, spotlighting the projects, people, and perspectives shaping our work.

We sat down with Romy Lewin, Intermediate Interior Designer at CHIL, to talk about pride in craft, collaboration, and what interior design really involves.

What’s your favourite part of working at CHIL?

The team, we have a wonderful, supportive team. We have a lot of fun together at events and enjoy getting out there in the industry to learn new things and experience great design together. Collaborating with this team often allows ideas to flourish. We are always better, together.

What is the one thing about your role that would surprise people the most?

The amount of technical work. People are consistently surprised that Interior Design involves so much construction drawings and millwork drawings. Most people still understand Interior Design to be what we consider “Interior Décor” meaning, picking paint, furniture and lighting fixtures.

Of all the projects you’ve brought to life here at CHIL, which is the one that you’re most proud of?

I am most proud of the luxury private club renovation we did a few years ago (Arbutus Club). This project was a fun and creative challenge: creating a luxury space with some limiting conditions (smaller space, lower ceilings).

There are some beautiful millwork, lighting and ceiling elements that give the space a soft, lovely glow. It also came together quite quickly as far as design and construction go – so it was satisfying to see it come to life and to be able to assist on site, problem-solve, and work through the inevitable challenges that arose.
