Huawei sets a new standard for technological innovation with the completion of the Qingpu Campus, a sprawling 394-acre complex located near Shanghai. This ambitious project is destined to become a landmark, uniting the company’s diverse research and development (R&D) activities under one roof.

The Huawei Qingpu Campus fosters a dynamic environment for groundbreaking innovation. Here, researchers delve into the future of technology, focusing on advancements in HiSilicon chips, next-generation wireless communication (5G-A and 6G), smartphones, automobiles, and even sustainable energy solutions.

Its meticulously crafted campus design features eight distinct districts seamlessly interconnected by a network of efficient roadways, trains, and elevated bridges. This fosters smooth collaboration between departments and a constant flow of ideas and progress.

Sustainability remains a core principle throughout the project. The campus incorporates innovative water management systems and thoughtfully integrates the architectural elements with the surrounding natural landscape. Waterways, layered connectivity between clusters, and a harmonious marriage of architecture and nature are all hallmarks of this environmentally conscious design approach.

The most intricate section of the campus is Parcel E, nicknamed “Forest Town,” designed by B+H. This innovative district features twelve buildings nestled atop man-made hills. The design conceals underground parking, a train garage, and various service facilities within the landscape, minimizing the project’s environmental footprint and allowing nature to thrive alongside technological advancement.

B+H’s contributions extend beyond Forest Town, having also designed the Rainbow Bridge and Moon Bridge, key components of the campus’s intricate transportation network. These bridges will become familiar landmarks for the 30,000+ employees who call Qingpu Campus home, solidifying its position not only as Huawei’s largest global research center but also as a testament to the company’s commitment to a future where technology and nature coexist in harmony.

By strategically consolidating its R&D efforts within the Qingpu Campus, Huawei aims to streamline operations and unlock the full potential of collaboration within its ever-evolving technological landscape.
