The Story of Kelowna's Landscape

To celebrate their 28th anniversary, the B+H interior design team collaborated with real estate developer Mission Group to create their new headquarters in downtown Kelowna, B.C.

Drawing inspiration from the stunning views of Okanagan Lake and the panoramic vistas of the surrounding mountains, the office design incorporates natural wood elements, a warm colour palette, stone textures, and organic materials to bring the beauty of the outdoors into the built environment. This design aligns with Mission Group’s commitment to building better communities and developing spaces for the people of Kelowna.

A prominent feature of the new space is an art installation along the wall and ceiling of the reception, made of walnut wooden ribs, symbolizing Mission Group’s connection to Kelowna. The walnut ribs on the ceiling resemble the ripples left by a boat and seamlessly transition into a three-dimensional map of the city grid. This design highlights Mission Group’s journey from their first lakefront project to their most recent developments.

The natural elements are consistently integrated throughout the office, including hidden doors within the wall millwork that create unexpected design moments. To promote employee well-being, the communal kitchen and collaborative workspaces are flooded with natural light and provide stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
