Mulvey & Banani (MBII) is a Toronto-based engineering consulting firm specializing in power interventions to the artistry of sound and light, providing solutions in Electrical, ICT, Security, AV, Lighting, and Building Intelligence Engineering working for companies from around the world. Founded on principles of engineering innovation and perpetual learning, MBII was looking for a workplace to empower their talent to embrace curiosity and exploration with each other to create remarkable and successful solutions for their clients. We’ve worked together closely over the years as trusted partners and naturally, when they were looking for a design for their new office, we were excited to work with them.
Connection, collaboration, and teamwork are key values for the practice, and it was important to create spaces that provide opportunities for talent to gather and share ideas, along with informal group settings including a café and games lounge. MBII wanted a modern and dynamic workplace with open workspaces that reflect their dedication to the collaborative processes they employ. We maximized space planning by leveraging the existing centre atrium with skylight to ensure that even inboard office spaces have natural light. The design incorporates green plants, an abundance of natural light and circadian lighting to encourage a healthy environment to support wellbeing. Meanwhile, an advanced AV system in meeting spaces coincides with MBII’s dedication to being at the leading edge of tech.
