Designing the Welcome Back

Metropolis Think Tank Panel

March 22, 2022

“Hospitality in its truest sense meaning is the friendly and generous entertainment of guests, visitors and strangers; it’s now the new everything. There is a convergence between workplaces and social spaces fueling demand for new spaces and experiences with people at the heart.” – Kathryn Clark, Senior Hospitality and Workplace Designer, B+H Architects.

On February 10th, B+H hosted a Metropolis Think Tank panel, moderated by Metropolis executive editor Sam Lubell to talk about how remote work has freed us from the inevitable shuttle between home and office, and people are seeking different spaces for different needs, moods and desires. The Third Space is the new Second Space. Hospitality is the new everything. And hotels, bars, restaurants and coffee shops have become work destinations of choice, not convenience. The convergence between workplace and social space is fueling demand for new spaces and experiences – with people at their heart. The panel brought together hospitality and workplace experts to discuss how these changes are leading us to build for a different future.
