Inspiring the Architects of Tomorrow

B+H Hosts Educational Office and Site Tour

December 6, 2023

With the intention to inspire budding architectural talent, B+H recently hosted a studio and site tour for 35 students from St. Clair College and St. Joseph’s High School at our Toronto Studio and the construction site of The United Bldg.

Organized by Jeff Cogliati, Principal, alongside Ken Acton, a professor and Executive Secretary for the Windsor Society of Architects, the tour aimed to provide students with a firsthand glimpse into the dynamic world of architectural practice. The diverse group included second-year architectural students from St. Clair College, in addition to grade 12 students from St. Joseph’s High School, currently enrolled in a drafting class and eager to explore architecture as a potential career path.

The day started in our studio’s cafe area, where Jeff delivered an engaging hour-long presentation on B+H. The presentation not only delved into the firm’s brands and legacy projects, but also offered a glimpse into our ongoing and upcoming ventures. Following the introduction to the firm, the students embarked on a guided tour of the office, gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations and collaborative culture at B+H.

The highlight of the tour was a visit to The United Bldg, where Ellis Don provided an exclusive tour of the construction site. Witnessing North America’s largest heritage retention structure was a unique and educational experience, allowing the students to appreciate the intricacies of architectural preservation and construction.

The learning adventure continued as the group explored several other construction sites across the city, offering a well-rounded perspective on the diverse facets of architectural projects.
