B+H Architects is currently seeking a Senior Healthcare Planner to join our dynamic and progressive team based in our Toronto Studio. As a Senior Healthcare Planner, you will be working collaboratively with the Healthcare Architecture and Interior Design Leads on the design and delivery of large scale Healthcare projects in Canada, as well as well as leading, mentoring and developing our design team. This role can be based in Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Research, plan, design and administer building projects for clients, zoning and building codes, and building materials
- Lead the management of the deliverables for the medical planning team within the greater project deliverable schedule
- Lead the medical planning process within the design team to create department floor plan concepts reflective of operations
- Provide expertise in clinical processes across major clinical departments
- Serve as the main point of contact for the client on planning issues
- Work with end users to outline process flows and critical adjacencies of clinical rooms
- Guide discussions on medical equipment needs
- Lead or support the coordination of all disciplines related to the building design and health planning.
- Engage in problem solving, teamwork, critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and visualization to create accurate and detailed drawings
- Prepare health planning presentation drawings, diagrams, and narratives as well as drawings and specification documents
- Provide planning, design and coordination support on projects and pursuits
- Mentor team members at all levels or other interested colleagues in health planning practices
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Architecture
- Registered Architect
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in Healthcare planning experience required, preferably with large, public projects.
- Proficiency in clinical processes across major clinical departments
- Clear understanding the differences in institutional, ambulatory, and business occupancy environments
- Clear understanding of applicable codes & building construction systems, materials, and standards
- Understanding of current and future healthcare trends
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, prints, drawings and models
- Strong presentation, communication, organizational, collaboration and communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, positive attitude and outlook with a desire to lead and support others in their professional development
- Critical thinking, effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Adaptable and open-minded
- Strong computer skills (REVIT, MS Office Suite, Blue Beam)
- Must be willing to travel to locations across Canada
