Working with the City of Ottawa, this historical site is part of a sweeping revitalization extending eastward along Rideau St. directly into the downtown core. Assisting the City with proper tree preservation and removal, B+H Planning and Landscape created a regeneration plan which includes an emphasis on meeting streetscape standards and open space requirements.
Understanding the context of the site within the immediate area and the need for increased community connectivity, the landscape architecture concept plan includes an accentuated pedestrian plaza at a nearby intersection. This plaza—a slightly elevated platform at a local crossing—is designed specifically to encourage the connection between the street and an existing pedestrian link leading to the nearby schoolyard.
