Top of City is a multi-tower residential development in the Jing’an District of downtown Shanghai—one of the world’s largest and busiest cities. Inspired by characteristic elements of local gardens, the development creates an urban refuge through its incorporation of green space and water. The towers at Top of City overlook a landscaped park and two artificial lakes sitting placidly at its centre. Meandering walkways and bridges connect the site and inspire mindful strolls. Thoughtful landscape details create serene vistas while open green areas provide space for recreation. Suites offer views of this master planned site in addition to the city skyline and nearby parks.
Built for sustainability and efficiency, drain water is collected and subsequently reused. The buildings are also strategically placed to capture sunlight and allow heat to penetrate. The first of their kind in the area, the towers feature curtain wall construction to allow filtration of natural light into the suites and mitigate any issues that might arise from air and moisture penetrating the buildings. Working within a limited construction budget, the curtain wall was used to highlight the cascading form of the building.
Offering secure and comfortable living, the complex still stands as one of the most prime residential complexes in downtown Shanghai. Replete with a clubhouse and amenities, the development offers residents exclusive use of an indoor pool, gym, tennis court, yoga, sauna and steam rooms, a spa, café and children’s playground. Comprised of a mix of suites from one- to four-bedrooms, penthouses feature their own private pools promoting a sense of luxury living.
